EMS Field Coordinator – Community Health 10/29/2019 Peninsulas EMS Council, Inc. is looking for an experienced prehospital or hospital clinician, who wants to develop their critical thinking and collaboration skills, and expand their job experience portfolio with a part-time position as EMS Field Coordinator – Community Health. The EMS Field Coordinator – Community Health will work with a variety of specialized programs designed to ensure regional EMS system relevance within the changing dynamics and increasing service demands of community health. This individual will act as a resource for EMS agencies and an EMS advocate to public health districts, jurisdictions, hospital systems, and community health-care organizations to maintain the EMS “safety net” for the underserved populations in our communities. This individual will work with these partners to increase healthcare access for those who do not know how or cannot afford to efficiently and effectively navigate the complex healthcare systems. The EMS Field Coordinator – Community Health is intended to support EMS agencies with information and resources for new initiatives such as mobile integrated healthcare/community paramedicine, as well as more traditional programs such as community health campaigns and community health public education events. The EMS Field Coordinator – Community Health will also serve as liaison with the Virginia Department of Health Districts and their community health initiatives within the region. Work may also involve assignment to any of the Council programs when deemed necessary. Work will be performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director. Minimum Education and Experience: Must have certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic or Virginia Paramedic in good standing with a minimum of three (3) years of recent advanced life support prehospital experience with a designated emergency response agency or a Virginia Registered Nurse in good standing with three (3) years of recent department or critical care experience (emergency department, critical care/specialty care unit, or aeromedical program). Must have a demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record. Preferred Requirements: Two years of EMS or nursing leadership experience. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in EMS, health science or related field or any combination of work and experience deemed equivalent.
