The duties of the EMS Instruction Supervisor may include, but not be limited to: Plan, develop, implement, and supervise basic and advanced courses of study in pre-hospital emergency medical care including technical (e.g., Emergency Medical Technician, paramedic), Non-technical (e.g., Public Awareness) and specialized (e.g., EVOC) programs. Develop, implement, and supervise EMT training for Fire Department and specialized care courses for Police Department and communications personnel to ensure continuity of pre-hospital care. Control and supervise the care and maintenance of all training equipment and supplies. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with personnel of other EMS agencies to ensure uniformity and coordination in training. Perform field observations and evaluations to assess course content and implement changes as needed; and plan, development and implement new training curricula which keep abreast of the changes in the delivery of pre-hospital patient care. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of training records to document student’s participation, performance, and attendance. Provide supervision in the clinical setting to evaluate student’s ability to perform in emergency situations. Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs. Conduct and supervise EMS courses of study through effective teaching and administrative methods Competently and accurately disseminate proper technical information and techniques to students of Basic and Advanced Life Support Adequately develop and implement new training curricula Competently prepare and administer program of instructor training and related topics Effectively perform field observations; and submit clear and accurate reports. All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. This position may require working any combination of days , nights, and or weekends to perform instruction and/or evaluations compentency . This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Minimum Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to seven (7) years, including three (3) years teaching experience, in such positions as critical care nurse, EMT Instructor, Clinical Instructor or EMS Supervisor/Administrator; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certification as a EMT- Advanced.
