Performing under the direct supervision of the assigned CCPT Manager, the CCPT Orientation and Education Consultant is responsible for assisting with the coordination and delivery of the new hire orientation program and for providing education to CCPT Ground providers on an on-going basis. Partners with preceptors, CTLs, and Managers to ensure that all staff are competent care providers. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Develops and coordinates new employee orientation. Reviews and revises on an annual basis, ensuring that departmental, regulatory, and accreditation needs are met. Assesses orientation learning needs of the new employee and partners with preceptors, CTLs, and Managers to provide individualized and remedial education recommendations. Develops an orientation calendar for each new employee, including classes scheduled by Carilion Education and Organizational Development and orientation shifts with preceptors. Responsible for monitoring and tracking the orientation status of each new employee. Assists the Manager in developing an action plan when orientation milestones are not met. Assists in the development and provision of annual skills competency training, patient care drills, protocol testing, and initial training for new medical equipment and/or procedures. Maintains employee confidentiality. Develops and maintains monitoring systems to ensure that employee orientation documentation is thorough, complete, organized, and stored in a secure location. Assists in Preceptor and FTO development, provides feedback as needed on documentation of orientee progress. Partners with preceptors, CTLs, and Managers to review employee progress during the first year of hire. Maintains an up to date spreadsheet for each FY for tracking and trending of orientation hours. Provides a monthly report to the assigned CCPT Manager. Assists in maintaining a yearly calendar for internal education and training. Conducts annual needs assessments with CCPT leadership to identify opportunities to improve orientation and continuing education. Other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Emergency Health Sciences – Paramedic, Education, Applied Sciences, or Management required or equivalent 8 years of experience required. Candidates who are currently enrolled in an accredited and applicable Bachelor’s degree program may be considered and must complete this degree within 3 years of date of hire. Experience: Three to five years of full time experience as a Transport Paramedic or RN preferred. Licensure/certification: Virginia Office of EMS Education Coordinator required at time of hire. Current certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (Virginia) or licensure as a Registered Nurse (Virginia). AHA- BLS HCP, ACLS and PALS are required at time of hire. Others certifications required include PHTLS, Haz Mat Awareness, and EVOC required within one year of hire date. Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates skills in project management, presentation development, and consulting. Applied knowledge and skills in the areas of communication, leadership, team building, employee development, interpersonal relationship management, versatility and creativity, and organizational application of processes.
