Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
LifeCare Medical Transports, Inc. – Norfolk, VA
The Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic field provider is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating non-emergency and/or emergency modalities as a medic unit in accordance with federal, states and local regulations and directives.
The EMT-P lead, direct and participate in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital setting or facility situation. When operating as attendant-in-charge, the EMT=-I or EMT-P provides direction or other crew members on patient care and medical issues. The EMT-P delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Time will be spend leading, directing, and participating in the delivery of basic and advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
• Gives direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
• Examines patients and reports findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
• During emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
• Responsible for completing and recording all required reports or runs made by the crews.
• Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations: company policies, federal, state and local laws, regulations and statutes.
• Assuring that the vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response, and at the end of each shift.
• Cleaning patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines.
• Maintaining office, crew lounge, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
• Ability to lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 125 pounds equally distributed and 250 pounds with assistance, to a height of 33 inches and a distance of 10 feet.
• Attending training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company
• Maintain all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supply the Human Resources Department with valid copies of all certifications and driver’s license prior to their expiration date.
• Performing other related duties as required by management.
Experience & Skills:
• Currently Virginia EMT-I or EMT-P Certification
• Curent CPR, HealthCare Provider Issue
• Current ACLS Certification
• Current PALS/PEPP Certification
• Current EVOC Certification
• BTLS/ITLS or PHTLS preferred
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License with no negative points.
• Pass a criminal background check
• FEMA ICS 100, 200 700 & 800b
• HAZMAT
• TIMS
